Not about PTSD – about Porter Lori, songwriter

I’m writing today to give a huge kudos to a young songwriter, musician and performer. His name is Porter Lori and after years of hard work, diligence and perseverance in a difficult industry, it looks like his efforts are finally going to pay off.

Porter has been writing music since his teens, beginning with hip hop. As he matured, so did his lyrics and his music. The range of his music now is wide: some are mellow, some of them haunting, some pop, some blues, some soul, many of them defying the specific label of any genre. Depending on the song, his voice goes from smooth and sexy to the gravel of a country road. His lyrics tell stories of love, frustration, reflection and more, and it all comes from the heart – good, bad or in between. He wears his heart on his sleeve and shares it with the world in his songs. And he still has his head on straight! He’s not a pretentious, superficial snob, but a real, down-to-earth man who’s managed to retain some of the idealism the rest of us lose all too early. And he’s not hard on the eyes either!

Porter had the opportunity earlier this week to meet and talk to the soul industry great, Mr. Leon Ware.  Hopefully, Mr. Ware gave him the direction he needs to reach the success he’s worked so hard to reach. Porter is on the cusp, ready to take the next step.

I owe a great deal to Porter…there were so many times when just his presence kept me going. While he’s now based in Los Angeles, his music still keeps me going. So…I’m touting the man and his talent. Besides, he put up with crazy people like me along the way!

Click on the link to the right…check him out! His album, “Hell or High Water” (appropriate name for all his efforts) will be available in a few weeks, but samples and the album selections are available now on the myspace site. Give him a listen.
